After a crash course in animation, we were given a timing task. Now timing is a major part of animation no matter what you are making,
This i found quite difficult and experimented alot with both stop motion (toys moving across a page) and adobe flash, I included probably not my best piece in the final reel, but it was my favorite as it showed in the space of say 5 seconds, three balls moving at different speeds, slowing down and speeding up, all at the same frame rate.
Now take the exercise as a pinch of salt, since i learned alot more on timing in the other exercises than i did in this one, but couldn't do them unless i experimented in this exercises first. you can see why its a fundamental step before diving into the deep end of animation.
Once i had the timing done on the final three balls, i feel the screen was very bare, and dull, so i figured i could add a simple background, though it had to be drawn in the same style and colour scheme as the balls, otherwise it would distract from the timing balls.
So i created the quick ball basket and gym like storage room, however i thought it very bright and over bearing, so i used the blur tool which i found whilst researching flash techniques.
However it looked too blurry? there was just no winning here. so i removed small squares of the blur, as if it was light shining in from a caged window, showing the original sketch and the blur. im quite happy with the finished result and i will definitely be using this blur tool again in future, maybe bring it into the final project?
In the end i want to incorporate as much of the exercises i learn in brief one, into the final project in brief two.
